Year 1 students took their sketch books outside to observe the large trees we have in our school. We also looked at and practiced drawing the silhouette of the trees we had sketched.
Students then were shown how to make a tint by adding white to a colour. They painted their backgrounds using the tints they had mixed.
Once dry a pencil outline of the tree was added. Next they used Indian ink and an old felt pen to fill in the silhouette ( this gave them more control and meant less mess!)
